Situated in the Sonoran desert, the city is surrounded by five mountain ranges and is home to the southernmost ski destination in the continental U.S. Lying on the borderland of Mexico, the mild weather is ideal for all kinds of activities. A 52-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital is hiring several psychiatrists. This facility provides inpatient services to all ages and is the only provider of child and adolescent behavioral health treatment in southern Arizona. A staff physician model is utilized with 12-15 patients seen per day, depending upon staffing and hospital census. Psychiatrists usually assume on call responsibilities one day per week and one weeknight per week. Weekend on call vs. weekend coverage is negotiable with the Medical Director as Sonora has some flexibility in managing weekend call / coverage. Full and part time psychiatrists are eligible for medical, dental, vision benefits as well as life, short-term / long-term disability, PTO and other benefits.
