A Super Recruiting Strategy

By FCS | February 1, 2016

In this season of gridiron superstars, we give kudos to the Human Resources Specialist – the general manager and all-around employee support system. The comparison might actually be closer to a utility player in baseball, but since we are knocking on Super Bowl 50’s door, we will stick with football.

Managers (football equivalent: coaches) – We all know that a good manager is hard to find and that not everyone is cut out to be a manager. An existing employee may have the role thrust upon them and it is partly the HR Specialist’s job to make sure that person has proper training. A recruiter can vet potential managers and provide only the best candidates for your desired job requirements. A strong manager can make or break your employee morale, so working with a recruiter increases your odds of a better hire.

CEO/CFO (football equivalent: quarterback) – Hiring a main playmaker is one of the most important positions you will fill. You’re talking about hiring someone who can hit the ground running, whose decisions impact the entire company, and generally draws a large salary. Recruiters have CVs for talented employees who are both ready (and will be ready in the future) to put their skills to work in a dynamic organization. Keep current with your recruiter to see who’s out there.

Doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses (football equivalent: offensive and defensive lines/linebackers) – Like an offensive or defensive line, these employees are always part of the play. They are often moving: healthcare superstars can be a transient group because of new opportunities, recruiting bonuses and locum tenens options that encourage employees to try something new. Like linebackers, they work together and “back up the line.”  HR Specialists should have an open line with recruiters to keep new talent in the pipeline.

Whether you already have a team of all-stars or you are continuing to look for new recruits, working with a recruiter makes adding to your all-star team easier and more cost-effective. The year-over-year performance of a stellar HR Specialist merits far more than a Pro Bowl invite. Let a healthcare recruiter be part of your winning strategy.
